Where Efficiency Meets Performance: Energy $aver® TEFC-Severe Duty Motor Combines Energy Efficiency with Increased Durability
FORT WAYNE, IN — GE Motors, part of GE Consumer & Industrial, introduces its Energy $aver® TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) Severe Duty motor, offering commercial and industrial end-users increased energy savings and increased durability for longer motor life. The new motor features a rugged design and an operational system that meets National Electrical Manufacturers Association Premium® efficiency standards (NEMA MG1-2006 table 12-12), which helps reduce energy consumption.
Ranging from one to 250 horsepower in 200, 230/460 or 575 volt models, the Energy $aver® TEFC-Severe Duty motor offers significant energy savings without sacrificing performance, making it ideal for a variety of applications in industries such as commercial and industrial building, water and wastewater, pulp and paper, cement, petrochemical, utilities, mining and metals.
Energy Savings
GE's Energy $aver® design meets NEMA Premium® efficiency levels and is tested per IEEE 112 Method B to verify that those efficiency levels are maintained. This focus on energy efficiency results in a motor that decreases energy costs while maintaining the critical performance attributes necessary for demanding applications.
An Energy $aver® TEFC-SD motor offers significant energy savings over an EPAct or Pre-EPAct motor. Compared with a 200 horsepower EPAct TEFC, the Energy $aver® TEFC-SD motor would save more than 17,000 kWh and $1,300 per year, and it would save more than 37,000 kWh and $3,000 per year when compared with a Pre-EPAct TEFC motor (based on 4 Pole motors operating 8760 hours/year at a cost of $0.08/kWh).
The Energy $aver® design strengthens its energy efficient reputation with enhanced Inverter capabilities. The GEGARD1800® insulation system exceeds NEMA MG1 part 31 standards for motors operating on Inverter power at 460 or 575 volts. It features a 10:1 variable torque speed range along with a 4:1 constant torque range.
Rugged Industrial Design
In addition to striving for better energy efficiency, the Energy $aver® TEFC-Severe Duty motor focuses on two of the most critical elements of any motor application-durability and performance.
With the solid, cast-iron construction of its frame, end shields, fan cover and conduit box, the Energy $aver® TEFC-SD motor is equipped to deliver supreme durability in even the toughest environments. It includes a Recessed Steel Reinforced Neoprene Slinger that helps prevent contaminants from entering the bearing cavity. It also features non-hygroscopic, anti-fungus Class F insulation system that maintains an 80-degree C (NEMA B) temperature rise, which helps maintain performance by protecting the motor's critical internal components from thermal breakdown.
Additionally, the Energy $aver® TEFC-SD motor comes with a standard warranty of 36 months from the date of purchase or 42 months from the date of shipment, whichever comes first.
Energy $aver® and GEGARD1800® are trademarks of the General Electric Company. NEMA Premium® is a trademark of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association.
