X$D Ultra® 841 Meets Toughest Requirements of Process Industries
FORT WAYNE, IN — GE Motor's X$D "Extra Severe Duty" Ultra® 841 motor brings tough durability to the company's growing line of industrial AC motors. The motor's low temperature rise and low vibration is perfect for harsh environments involving highly corrosive materials or where processes place high structural demands on motors, such as in the oil, gas, energy and chemical industries.
The X$D Ultra® 841 motor, which meets or exceeds the latest requirements of IEEE 841–2001, has the ability to meet maximum exposed internal and external surface temperatures of up to 200 degrees Celsius under usual service conditions at a 1.0 service factor. Each X$D Ultra® 841 motor comes with its own test report, demonstrating performance compliance with the IEEE 841–2001 specification.
Furthermore, the X$D Ultra® 841 motor meets or exceeds all National Electrical Manufacturers Association NEMA Premium® Nominal efficiencies and exceeds all NEMA Premium minimum guaranteed efficiencies, helping to dramatically improve the motor's rate of energy consumption.
The use of the GEGARD2000® insulation system, which utilizes Class H materials, helps increase the new motor's protection against heat and IGBT drive voltage spikes up to 2,000 volts for 460 and 575 line voltages.
Durable design
To help maintain peak performance of the X$D Ultra® 841 motor and connected equipment, the rotor assembly balance is ISO 1940 Grade 1.0. The motor also incorporates a non–contact laybrinth seal, which is integrated to both the drive–end and opposite drive–end, ensuring IP–55 protection of the bearing system. The oversized roller bearing has been designed for 130,000 hours minimum for direct drive loads, and 26,280 for L10 belt–driven loads.
One of a motor's most critical components is its bearing system. This motor's Six Star Bearing System™, and its low overall vibration of 0.04 ips (inches per second), can extend the life of the motor and the connected equipment. These features, along with the motor's sealed re–greasable system, allow for easy maintenance while protecting and lubricating bearings. In addition, the motor's external fan is corrosion resistant; it offers thermal protection for enhanced bearing durability and longevity.
Building on GE Motors' reputation for toughness, the X$D Ultra® 841 motor features a cast–iron construction, including its frame, conduit box, end–shields and fan cover. For superior corrosion protection and optimized performance, internal motor surfaces are coated with epoxyester paint and rotor surfaces are coated with glyptol to resist interior rust. The X$D Ultra® 841 motor is also backed by a 5–year limited warranty for both mechanical and efficiency performance.
