New X$D Ultra® 661 Motor Built for Air–Cooled Heat Exchangers
FORT WAYNE, IN — GE Motors, part of GE Consumer & Industrial, introduces the X$D "Extra Severe Duty" Ultra® 661 motor to its line of NEMA Premium® efficient industrial AC motors. The five to 75 horsepower X$D Ultra® 661 motor is built to American Petroleum Institute (API) 661 standards for motors applied in Air–Cooled Heat Exchangers.
Built for the tough demands of today's heat exchangers environments, the X$D Ultra® 661 motor can help improve motor life, and reduce energy consumption as compared to an EPACT or non–EPAct design. The new 460–volt motor is rated for IP–55 protection and meets or exceeds all NEMA, UL, CSA, IEEE–45, IEEE–841 and API–661 standards. It also includes advanced features such as the GEGARD2000® insulation system, which employs Class H insulation materials. It is capable of protecting against IGBT drive voltage spikes up to 2,000 volts.
Powerful features
The overall displacement of the shaft is 0.0004 inches peak–to–peak and rotor assembly balance is ISO 1940 Grade 1.0. This helps to extend the life of the motor and the connected equipment. The motor also incorporates an Inpro®/Seal, which is integrated to both the drive–end and opposite drive–end, ensuring IP–55 protection of the bearing system. The oversized roller bearing has been designed to yield 40,000 hours minimum L10 bearing life for belted loads.
Proven reliability continues to drive GE's Ultra motor family. The X$D Ultra® 661 motor has cast–in vibration pads to provide five–point vibration probe mounting (four radial and one axial). It also includes a new stainless steel T–drain at the lowest point in the bottom end–shield and brass plug on the upper end–shield, helping to relieve and prevent condensation. In addition, the X$D Ultra® 661 motor employs 4–point lifting lugs that are integrally cast in the motor frame. This allows users to pick up the motor vertically using all four points instead of a single eyebolt.
Enhancing the motor's toughness is its complete cast–iron construction, including the frame, conduit box, end–shields and fan cover. So confident is GE Motors with the design, materials, and construction of the X$D Ultra® 661 motor it offers a 5–year warranty for both mechanical and efficiency performance; coverage extends to renewal parts such as fans, bearings and bearing brackets.
