GE Hosts e-Business Customer Event in Dubai

Dubai - General Electric(GE), held its first ever e-business event in the Gulf region to introduce its customers, business partners and suppliers to GE?s e-business activities, at a special event in Dubai today.

250 customers and suppliers from six GCC countries were invited to attend the event to witness demonstrations of the online capabilities of several GE businesses. GE business representatives used 25 computers with direct connections to the internet to browse GE websites with their guests. Those attending the event were able to learn how their companies can benefit from doing business with GE electronically.

GE, which posted global revenues of $112 billion last year, is quickly transforming itself from an "old economy" company to a web enabled "new economy" company. From back office to transactional operations, GE is moving online with the aim of increasing customer productivity and satisfaction. As one of GE?s four key initiatives, e-business is pervading every corner of the company and doing more than any other initiative in GE?s history to prepare the company to successfully do business for another 100 years.

Further e-business events are planned in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.

GE has been active in the Gulf region since 1933. GE?s activities in the region are conducted through direct presence, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and a wide network of distributors. GE has completed strategic projects in various hi-tech industrial sectors, defence related contracts and major infrastructure developments. Most recently GE was awarded the engine contract to power the new F16 fighter aircrafts for the UAE airforce.
