New GE Monogram® Electronic Induction Cooktops Captivate with Magnetic Presence and Performance

Extremely responsive, induction cooking has been popular in commercial and European kitchens for years. Now GE is making the technology available to high–end households with new GE Monogram® electronic induction cooktops.
Induction — the (magnetic) wave of the future
Induction elements use electricity to produce a magnetic field that reacts with the iron in metal cookware—including cast iron and magnetic stainless steel pans—and transfers the heat directly to the cookware, itself.
Monogram induction — the forefront of the industry
The sleek design with embedded digital controls is smooth from edge to edge, making it remarkably easy to clean. Stainless steel cooktops have a surface made of a unique reflective material that captures light and colors inside the kitchen. Accented by a decorative backsplash or glass-mosaic tiles, the surface creates a beautiful, prism–like effect. A black frameless version is also available and can be installed flush into the countertop for a fully integrated appearance.
Along with an extraordinary appearance, these remarkable new cooktops deliver exceptional performance with a wide range of versatile features:
- A 3,700–watt, 10" element offers the most powerful induction element in the industry equivalent to 25,000 BTUs, and provides heat across 19 different cooking settings.
- Digital pan-sensing technology detects the presence of pans made of magnetic properties (such as cast iron and magnetic stainless steel), a requirement for induction cooking.
- Warm setting provides just enough heat to maintain an ideal serving temperature.
- Timer, control–lock capability and hot–surface indicator provide an extra measure of convenience and safety.
Flexibility extends to installation, as well. Monogram induction cooktops allow a secure, flush fit in existing countertop cutouts. For a complete range of cooking capabilities in a small space, these ovens can be installed over GE Monogram wall ovens

The estimated retail price of 36-inch electronic induction cooktops (ZHU36) will range from $2349 to $2649. The 30–inch models (ZHU30) will range from $1849 to $2149. They will be available in September 2007 and will also be offered in GE Profile™ models.
