Discover the Power, Speed and Efficiency of Induction Cooking With New GE Profile™ Induction Cooktop

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky — Imagine preparing filets, sauces, seafood and stir-fry without overheating the kitchen, and breezing through clean-up because spills don't cook onto the surface. Efficient and powerful, induction cooking has been popular in commercial kitchens and European kitchens for years. Now GE Profile™is making it available to consumers with the GE Profile 30- and 36-inch induction cooktop with unique glass cooktop finishes.

How Induction Cooking Works
With induction cooking, electricity flows through a coil underneath the ceramic cooktop, producing a magnetic field. A magnetic pan—such as cast iron or magnetic stainless steel—placed on the element of an induction cooktop will create a current that will heat the pan and the food inside. To test whether your cookware will work with an induction cooktop, simply hold a magnet to it. If the magnet sticks, your pans should be suited for induction. Induction elements will not transfer heat to pans that are not cast iron or magnetic stainless steel.

One-of-a-Kind Finishes
Besides the performance benefits, the cooktops make strikingly handsome additions to the kitchen, with nearly seamless cooking elements and luxuriant, innovative finishes. GE Profile models are available in both stainless steel and black. The rich colored glass cooktop at first glance appears black, but glows with iridescent undertones in "flash ocean blue" (black model) and "aluet" (stainless steel model).

Benefits of GE Profile Induction Cooktops

• 3700-watt output element.

• The induction element will transfer heat directly to magnetic cookware, meaning that any part of the element untouched by cookware will not get hot.

• Offers faster time to boil than gas or electric cooktops

• Easier clean-up because spills won't cook onto the stovetop

• More efficient than gas or electric cooktops because most of the heat is transferred directly to cookware and the food inside, rather than the unused part of the cooktop

• The accuracy of the Precise Digital Control System™with electronic touch controls

• A true "simmer" level for the gentlest warming of food and simplified meal coordination

• Control lock capability to protect against unintended activation

• Common cutout sizes and below-countertop venting for easy replacement and installation and flush installation

The new technology is now available in two popular GE Profile models, with a choice of a black or stainless steel finish. The 30-inch PHP900 model is priced between $1799 and $2049*; and the 36-inch PHP960 model, from $2299 to $2549.* GE Monogram® induction cooktops are also available.

* Dealers determine their own resale price.
